Cox’s Bazar is known for its wide sandy
beach which is claimed to be the world’s longest natural sandy sea
beach. It is an unbroken 125 km sandy sea beach with a gentle slope. it
is a good place for sea bathing. It is located 150 km south of
Chittagong. Cox’s Bazar is also known by the name “Panowa”, the literal
translation of which means “yellow flower”. Its other old name was
“Palongkee”. The modern Cox’s Bazar derives its name from Captain Cox,
an officer serving in British India in 18th century. Although Cox’s
Bazar is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Bangladesh, it
has yet to become a major international tourist destination, due to lack
of publicity.
Aggmeda Khyang Monastery : Aggmeda Khyang Monastery is a beautiful place in cox’sbazar.It a large Buddhist monastery, and a place revered by around 400,000 Buddhist people of Cox’s Bazar; and the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Equally lucubrate in plan, elevation and decoration is the Aggameda Khyang near the entrance to the Cox’s Bazar town, which nestles at the foot of a hill under heavy cover of a stand of large trees. The chief sanctuary-cum-monastery is carried on a series of round timber columns, which apart from accommodating the prayer chamber and an assembly hall, also is the repository of a large of small bronze Buddha images-mostly of Burmese origin– and some old manuscripts. Himchari is famous place for picnic and film shooting.It is also famous for its waterfalls and The road to Himchari runs by the open sea on one side and hills on the other which makes the journey to Himchari very attractive.
Inani Beach : Inani Beach is also the beautiful sea beach in Ukhia Thana and about 32 kilometer to the south of Cox’s Bazar beach. It is famous for its golden sand.
Inani beach attracts most of the tourist who appreciate warmly the wonders of nature. nani Beach, widely considered to be the world’s longest beach, is fringed with tall palm trees swaying gently in the breeze and has a calm lagoon which is perfect for the little ones to paddle in. It’s total area is 262 squre kilometers. Through the center of the island and along the eastern coastline rises, a range of low hills, but the coast to the north and west is a low-lying treat, environed by mangrove jungle. There are a Buddhist temple and a shrine of Adinath on the hill. You will observe here hilly areas,mangrove forests, salt field etcetera. You can go easily to Moheshkhali from Cox’s Bazar. There are khyangs, monasteries and pagodas containing images of Buddha in gold, bronze and other metals inlaid with precious stones.
