The natural beauty of Bangladesh - Sundarban   The Sundarbans is the largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world. The name Sundarban can be literally translated as "beautiful jungle" or "beautiful forest" in the Bengali language. The name may have been derived from the Sundari trees that are found in Sundarbans in large numbers. Alternatively, it has been proposed that the name is a corruption of Samudraban or Chandra-bandhe. But the generally accepted view is the one associated with Sundari trees.  Location of Sundarban Forest The Sundarban forest lies in the vast delta on the Bay of Bengal formed by the super confluence of the Padma, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers across Saiyan southern Bangladesh. Foy's Lake This beautiful lake surrounded with lovely hills is situated just east of the Pahartali Railway Station and West of the Khulshi residential area. This lake attracts thousands of visitors almost each day. There are small bushy hills around the green water of the lake. This beautiful artificial lake was created in 1942 by the Bengal Railways Engineer Mr. Foy for providing drinking water. So it was named after him. This lake is 8 km. away from the Zero point. Kaptai (Bengali: কাপ্তাই ) is an Upazila of Rangamati District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Notable landmarks are the Karnaphuli Hydroelectric Power Station, the only Hydro-electric power plant of Bangladesh. The Kaptai Dam, built for this purpose on the Karnaphuli River, created the Kaptai Lake, the largest man-made dam in Bangladesh. Geography Kaptai is located at 22.5000°N 92.2167°E . Cox's Bazar   Cox’s Bazar is known for its wide sandy beach which is claimed to be the world’s longest natural sandy sea beach. It is an unbroken 125 km sandy sea beach with a gentle slope. it is a good place for sea bathing. It is located 150 km south of Chittagong. Cox’s Bazar is also known by the name “Panowa”, the literal translation of which means “yellow flower”. Its other old name was “Palongkee”. The modern Cox’s Bazar derives its name from Captain Cox, an officer serving in British India in 18th century.
